Francesca Galliano - Work Detail: Mystic Portrait: Spirit View VII - Integration with Roots & Aura

Assemblage: (a) Two carved wood pieces attached to wood panel textured with canvas & crossweave within environment with amethyst glass drops, textured & guilded wood. (b) Copper wire chrochet square interwoven with heavier copper wire, formed into sculptural shape & twisted into 2 sections: (i) upper section with bead-crochet fringe using gems (amethysts, peridots), copper & mother-of-pearl, interwoven with dyed acrylic beads; (ii) lower section with interwoven amethyst glass beads & with bead-crochet fringe using poppy jaspers, hematites & copper beads. (c) Copper crochet net attached (i) over upper carved piece by coiling copper wire on bras nails with amethyst glass beads; (ii) directly to textured wood panel under lower carved piece. The application of over 20 thin layers of trasparent & translucent mixed media produced the final colors on the carvings. Mixed media included: crushed pigments, resins, solvent dyes, mica flakes, inks, waxes & lacquer. Acrylics, 24 kt gold, waxes & lacquer were used to color the environment.
